Set up subscriptions

Manifest shows subscriptions as soon as a product has them: a choice above the buy button, and a One-time or Subscribe choice on each cart line. The subscriptions themselves come from an app. Shopify's own, Shopify Subscriptions, is free.

Set it up

1. Install Shopify Subscriptions from the Shopify App Store.
2. In the app, create a subscription plan: choose how often it's delivered (for example every 1, 2 or 3 months) and the discount, such as 10% off.
3. Add the products the plan applies to. A product can have more than one plan.
4. Decide whether each product can also be bought once. If it can only be bought on a subscription, the cart shows the frequency choice without the One-time option.
5. Open a product on your store: the plan appears above the buy button, with its saving.

What shoppers see

• Product page: One-time purchase and each plan, as choices. Picking a plan changes the price shown.
• Quick add on product cards: a product that can only be bought on a subscription opens the product's options instead of adding straight away.
• Cart drawer and cart page: each subscription product's line has One-time and Subscribe, each with its price and the saving, and a menu for how often.
• Cart summary: the amount saved by subscriptions and discounts together, as You save.
