Set up your store

Product badges

Sale and Sold out badges appear by themselves. Add your own, such as New or Bestseller, with a tag or a metafield.

WhereProducts → a product → Tags, or its Badges metafield; Theme settings → Product cards for the badge style.

Badges sit on product cards and, with the Badges block, on the product page. Sale and Sold out come from your prices and stock. Theme settings, Product cards chooses how the Sale badge reads (Sale, a percentage, or the amount saved) and whether Sold out shows.

QuickestA tagOn the product, add a tag that starts with badge:, such as badge:New. The badge reads New.
TidierA Badges metafieldA Badges list field on each product, no tags needed. Good if tags are used for other things.
AutomaticSale and Sold outNothing to set up. Set a Compare-at price for Sale; stock at 0 shows Sold out.

With a tag

  1. Open the product in Products.
  2. In Tags on the right, type badge: followed by the words, such as badge:New or badge:Staff pick, and press Enter.
  3. Save. The badge appears on the product's card and in its Badges block.

With a metafield

  1. Create a product field named Badges, type Single line text, switched to List, so its key is custom.badges. See Show different details on each product for each screen.
  2. On each product, type one or more badges into it and save.

Turn your own badges off everywhere with Show your own badges in Theme settings, Product cards.
