Rules: how to behave, never, hand off when

Every sentence about conduct in one list, each with a kind and an optional audience.

AI Agent

A rule is one sentence, as you would tell a new colleague. There are three kinds, and the engine puts each in the right part of the assistant’s instructions.

  • How to behave — manners and habits: “If the customer writes in Malay, answer in Malay.”
  • Never — lines it must not cross: “Never quote a price that is not in the sources; say the agent will confirm.”
  • Hand off when — situations that go to a person on top of the built-in ones: “The customer asks about a corporate account.”
  1. AI Agent → Behavior → Rules → New rule. Pick the kind, write the sentence, or start from an example.
  2. Optionally limit it to an audience (Behavior → Audiences).
  3. Switch a rule off without deleting it when you want to test without it.
TipFacts go under Data sources; rules are about conduct. The safety checks that run before the model (blocked words, allowed topics, personal data) live under Guardrails.
