What the assistant knows

Data sources: text, website pages, files, orders. It never answers from outside them.

The assistant answers only from what you give it. If a customer asks something not covered, it says it does not know and offers a person — it does not guess.

  1. AI Agent → Knowledge → Data sources.
  2. Add text (paste your FAQ, hours, policies), a page from your website (one address per entry: it reads that page, not the rest of the site; tick Re-fetch weekly to have it read again every week), a file, a Notion page or a Google Doc.
  3. Ask a question in the Playground and check the answer cites the source.
  • Products — a connected Shopify store makes the catalog and store policies available as tools; the assistant looks products up rather than memorizing them.
  • Suggestions — questions customers asked that the assistant could not answer, so you know what to add next.

Orders

AI Agent → Knowledge → Orders. Not on Shopify? Link a Google Sheet (re-read every hour) or upload a CSV of your orders — order number, email or phone, status, courier, tracking, expected delivery. When a customer asks where their order is, the AI Agent asks for the email or phone they ordered with, matches it to the row, and reads out the status; a number alone is never enough. A connected Shopify store answers the same question from Shopify instead. A shop you built yourself needs neither a sheet nor a CSV: send order.placed to the API (Settings → Developers → dotaskAPI) and the order is on the list; order.shipped, order.delivered, order.canceled, order.refunded and order.updated keep its status, courier, tracking and expected delivery current.

Notion and Google Docs

Notion: make an internal integration at notion.so/profile/integrations (read-only), paste its secret under Add knowledge → Notion, then share each page with the integration (••• → Connections). Pick the pages to import; each becomes a source, sub-pages included, re-read every week. Google Docs: share the document as “Anyone with the link” (Viewer) and paste the link; no Google account is connected. Both kinds show a refresh arrow to re-read now after an edit.

NoteEverything imported can end up in an answer. Share only pages customers may hear about; keep internal notes out of the integration.
