What doTask keeps in your Shopify store

Client facts on your Shopify customers, and pictures in your store’s Files.

For a workspace that came in through the Shopify App Store, Settings → Shopify chooses what doTask keeps in the store as well as in doTask. doTask always keeps the master copy.

  1. Client facts: tick the figures you want — visits and spend, credit left, package sessions, next booking, membership, and (only if you choose it) the amount a client owes — and press Turn on.
  2. About every quarter hour doTask writes them onto each client’s Shopify customer as fields named “doTask: …”, and only what changed since last time. They show on the customer page in Shopify, and can be used in Shopify’s customer segments, Flow and Shopify Email.
  3. Untick a figure and Save to remove it from every customer; Turn off removes them all.
  • Only clients linked to a Shopify customer get figures: someone who bought in your store, or came in from your Shopify customers.
  • Amount owed is off unless you choose it: every staff member who can see customers in Shopify would see it.
  • Never sent to Shopify: visit and health notes, form answers, signed waivers, photos and conversations.

Pictures in Shopify Files: once your store has given doTask file access (it comes with an app update; Shopify asks you to approve it the next time you open doTask from your Shopify admin), new pictures for services, team members, newsletters and sign-up forms are kept in Content → Files in Shopify and shown from Shopify’s servers. Pictures already uploaded stay where they are. “Keep new pictures with doTask instead” turns it off. Files in Shopify can be opened by anyone with the link, so client photos and documents always stay with doTask. Deleting a picture in Shopify’s Files removes it wherever it is shown.
