Memberships: plans that renew, with sessions
Sell a weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly plan with sessions per period; each period is billed by invoice, sessions are used by bookings and at Checkout, and members can freeze or cancel.

BookingsA membership is a customer on a plan. Plans live under Settings › Sales › Checkout › Membership plans: a name, a price each week, month, quarter or year, the sessions it gives per period (or unlimited) and whether unused ones roll over (at most one period’s worth), a minimum term in months, whether members may freeze it and for how long, the days they have to pay each invoice, a tax rate, the services it covers, and whether it is sold at Checkout.
- Settings › Sales › Checkout › Membership plans → New plan, and save it.
- Start a membership from the customer’s Money tab (Start membership), or sell the plan at Checkout: selling it starts the membership with the first period paid, or pays the oldest period they still owe.
- Each period’s invoice is made on its first day, in your time zone: numbered, with your bank transfer details, and card on the invoice page when you take cards (through your Shopify checkout if your store runs on Shopify). It is emailed when the member has an email address; otherwise it waits under Bookings › Memberships, Invoices to send by hand, for you to copy the link or open WhatsApp from your own phone.
- Paid in full by any route, the period is paid. Still unpaid after the plan’s days to pay, the membership shows Payment overdue until it is.
Sessions: a booking marked completed for a service the plan covers uses a session, unless it was rung up at Checkout (then the sale decides: “Use a membership session” on the member’s panel uses one; a priced line means they paid). The Money tab, the booking drawer and Checkout show what is left, for example “8 of 12 sessions left this month”. A sale that would use more than are left this period is refused; voiding the sale gives the session back.
- Freeze: from today or a later day before the current period ends, for up to the plan’s days. The current period, the next bill and the term all move later by the days frozen; no sessions are used meanwhile. Unfreeze early and the days not used come off again.
- Cancel at the end of the term: it keeps running, and billing, until the later of the current period’s end and the minimum term’s end. Cancel now: it ends today and nothing more is billed (an invoice already sent stays open; void it if it is not owed). Keep it undoes a planned cancellation.
- Change plan: the new plan, its price and its sessions start with the next period.
- Card on file is coming soon; a workspace whose store runs on Shopify is never offered it (a Shopify App Store rule), and bills memberships by invoice.
Bookings › Memberships lists everyone on a plan, filtered by status (trial, active, frozen, payment overdue, cancelled, ended), for owners, admins and people with Sales figures. Packages bought at Checkout are marked Running low at two sessions left and Expires soon in their last 14 days, on the Money tab. Automations can start from a membership starting, renewing in 3 days, falling overdue, nearing its end or being frozen, and from a package running low or expiring: see Email automations.
